The Journal for Weavers, Spinners and Dyers' Award to attend Summer School 2009
The Journal Editorial Committee (JEC) of the Association of Weavers Spinners and Dyers has decided to give an award to help a student attend Summer School 2009. The award will be given to anyone in full or part-time education, or within two years of graduation from Higher Education, in exchange for a fully illustrated article incorporating photographs or diagrams which will be published in The Journal for Weavers, Spinners & Dyers.
THE AWARD
The winner (selected by the JEC) will receive a non-residential place on any chosen course at SS 2009, plus one year's subscription to The Journal for WS&D and a year's subscription to a Guild of their choice.
Second and/or third places may be awarded if standards allow, each award consisting of one year's subscription to The Journal for WS&D and one year's free membership to a Guild of their choice.
APPLICATIONS
- Students must be in full or part-time education, or within two years of graduation from Higher Education in the UK.
- The subject must be a fully illustrated article relating to weaving, spinning or dyeing.
- The article must be the author's original work, not previously published. A tutor must verify the article.
- The article should be between 2000 to 2500 words.
- The student should indicate three courses at Summer School 2009 in which they wish to participate in ranking order.
- Applications should be sent to the Chairman of the JEC after 1 October 2008 and by 1 January 2009. The Summer School programme will be available in September 2008 and the winner will be informed by 31 January 2009.
- The Journal Editorial Committee's decision is final. The Journal Editorial Committee has the right to edit and publish any article received.
- Should the course at Summer School 2009 not run then the cash equivalent to the non-resident fee will be given.
